Zambuko is a Seattle-based African diasporic music ensemble founded by Sheree Seretse, born from a vision to build community through rhythm, culture, and education. The group emerged from classes at the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute, where individual students of African descent found a shared passion for African and African-American musical traditions. Over time, these students came together to form a unified ensemble.

Named after the Shona word for "bridge," Zambuko embodies the connection between cultures, generations, and communities. Since its formal founding around 2008, the group has performed at festivals, schools, cultural celebrations, and private events throughout the Northwest and beyond—including an international performance at the Marcus Garvey Festival in Limon, Costa Rica.

With members ranging from university professors to artists and technicians, Zambuko brings both depth and diversity to every performance. The group recently completed its debut recording, marking a new chapter in its journey of musical expression and cultural celebration.

The Zambuko Marimba Ensemble is a vibrant and dynamic group that brings the rich cultural traditions of Zimbabwe to life through music. Known for their energetic performances and festive spirit, the ensemble captures the essence of Zimbabwean music and shares it with audiences around the world.
